Our foster volunteers play a vital role by opening their hearts and homes to animals in need. Animals who are not yet ready for adoption due to sickness or injury, new moms, and litters, or some that simply do not adjust well to our shelter environment and do much better in a home environment which allows their true personalities to come out. The foster program also opens space in the shelter for other animals in need.
The Sarnia & District Humane Society fosters hundreds of animals each year until they are ready for adoption; commitment generally varies between 2 – 8 weeks. Spending time in a loving environment can make all the difference to ensure these animals get the second chance they deserve.
Orientation and property checks are requirements of the program. The SDHS provides all necessary supplies, Vet care and support.
