Since 1953 The Sarnia & District Humane Society has been a registered charity in Lambton County whose mission is to protect and enhance the lives of all animals and to prevent animal cruelty, neglect and suffering. We seek to mobilize our community to help us create an environment in which all animals can enjoy (as a minimum) freedom from hunger, thirst, cruelty, discomfort and distress.
Most people do not realize that we do NOT receive government funding for our shelter. We rely solely on the generous support of individual donations, bequests, and corporate sponsorships to operate our facility.
By making a contribution to your local Sarnia & District Humane Society, your donation will stay in YOUR community. All funds raised by the shelter stay right here and are used to
assist and care for animals right here in THIS community!

On January 1, 2020, the new Provincial Animal Welfare Services Act came into effect. On that date, primary responsibility for conducting animal cruelty and welfare investigations was transferred from Humane Societies like ours to Government Inspectors. If you suspect animal cruelty or neglect please call the 24 hour Provincial hotline at 1-833-9- ANIMAL (1-833-926-4625)
The Sarnia & District Humane Society is governed by a board of directors dedicated to bringing their talents to the table to ensure best care practices are in place for all animals which come into our care.
